Many people struggle to understand what a successful relationship involves, often due to a lack of positive role models. This can make it challenging to navigate how to be a supportive partner. Focusing solely on who your partner is, rather than considering the partner you are, can also make finding this answer more difficult.


In essence, building a strong relationship means prioritising the relationship itself. This can involve giving even when it’s challenging, being mindful of our words and timing, and advocating for ourselves with patience and clarity when needed.


It’s also important to recognise yourself and your partner as unique, independent individuals. Striking the right balance between maintaining individuality and fostering closeness is key. Finally, successful relationships rely on the ability to handle conflict in a respectful, considerate, and calm manner.
