Over the years, my appreciation for metaphors has grown significantly. Recently, I came across the idea that metaphors represent the highest form of learning. Metaphors bypass the conscious, logical part of our brain and resonate with our emotional, creative, and unconscious mind - the realm where our behaviours and emotions reside. Here's a metaphor that I particularly love...
An elderly Cherokee was imparting wisdom to his grandson about life. 🌱 "There's a battle within me," he told the boy, "a fierce clash between two wolves. 🐺 One is evil, filled with anger 😡, envy 💚, sorrow 😞, regret, greed 💰, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies 🤥, false pride, superiority, and ego. The other wolf is good, embodying joy 😊, peace 🕊, love ❤️, hope 🌟, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith."
"This same battle is going on inside you 🧒 and every other person, too," he continued. After thinking 🤔, the grandson asked, "Which wolf will win?" 🐺 The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed." 🍖
